Chapter Summary

Proverbs 24 opens with one of the most architectural images in the book: by wisdom a house is built, and through understanding it is established; through knowledge its rooms are filled with rare and beautiful treasures.

Verse 16 is one of the most encouraging verses for anyone who has experienced failure: though the righteous fall seven times, they rise again. The difference between the righteous and the wicked is not that one never falls. It is that the righteous get up.

The chapter closes with a memorable field observation. Solomon sees an overgrown vineyard belonging to a lazy man and receives a lesson not from a teacher but from a failed garden. Wisdom is available everywhere to those who pay attention.
